Bead Class

I taught a class at Tiffany House yesterday, and just wanted to show a couple of pictures from it. They have a great set-up there, with 6 torches, and a big overhead hood fan. I had 3 students, and they were all at approximately the same level so it was an easy class to do. We worked on different bead shapes, using silver/copper and the dreaded encasing. Everyone did great!

Well, should get outside and enjoy the wonderful warm day.

Some Custom Orders

I have had a few custom orders lately. They are always fun, especially if the person wants some beads that are a little outside my comfort zone. The set below was made for someone who wanted chunky beads, in chocolate brown, baby blue and chartreuse. Initially I wasn't sure if that would work out, but she has great colour sense, so I gave it a shot. Anyhow, I like the way they turned out, and may explore this theme a bit more. Hope she likes them!

Next is a set of beads for a neighbour's Pandora bracelet. I am trading these for some pet sitting when we are on holidays - love it when trades work out!
Here's another trade. This person wanted a large holed bead to put on a spindle for hand spinning yarn, in autumn colours. Hope it works for her. I get some hand painted wool roving to make felt with, in return.

More Autumn Colours

Well I thought I would post the beads I made, after talking about autumn colours a few days ago. This set was called "Autumn Bounty", sold on Etsy yesterday.

And this was the focal that I made in the same colours (shown between my in-need-of-a-manicure fingers). I used a frit stringer to get the shadings on the petals. Still not quite what I was looking for, but close.

Well, should go and get my parka ready for my last Millarville tomorrow. I am hoping for no rain, but either way it will be cold from all the forecasts. Hey, I shouldn't be so negative, none of you will want to come out for a visit tomorrow morning!

Autumn colours

I was at Millarville Farmers Market on Saturday, across from a booth selling pumpkins and squash. I am inspired by all those beautiful oranges and yellows. So I thought I would post a few pictures in those colours.
Here's a planter at our front door.

And here's a necklace I made. This is semi-precious stone chips wire crocheted. I wound some fibre through the strands.
Here's another wire crochet necklace. This one has 9 strands crocheted in gold, copper and dark copper. The strands pass through one of my big holed beads.
And this little guy fits into the autumn colour theme. This is Charlie, my daughter's new kitten. She got him and a little tortoiseshell kitten from the Meow Foundation rescue group. If you are looking for a feline friend, here is their website: Well, should get back to the torch, and create some beads in those colours. If I am successful, I will post a picture of them. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
