Michael Barley Class

I was lucky to get a spot in the Michael Barley class this last weekend. I have wanted to take a class from him for ages, and he doesn't teach very much. So I pounced when Bedrock in Edmonton offered a 2 day class with him. He is a fantastic teacher, and I learned a lot. Here he is
showing us how to make one of his fantastic beads. And here is a tray of some of his beads that were for sale. Those are his leaf beads on the left side of the tray.

I learned one of my jewellery designs was accepted into a bead magazine contest. Here it is: If I get lots of votes, it will appear in an upcoming magazine, and I get some nifty prizes, so I am hoping everyone will vote for me! Here's the link:, and I am in Metals, entry #3. Voting ends on June 18. Thanks!!

Sunday, April 6, 2008

I just wanted to thank everyone who came for a visit at my show yesterday. I was very happy about my sales, as I have been experimenting with a few new ideas, and have generally upped the quality of the materials I am using. I have listed some of the bracelets that didn't sell on etsy, so if anyone has had second thoughts, take a look there. I will list a few more tomorrow. Thanks again, and have a great week!

More Pearls

Another bracelet, using even bigger
Swarovski pearls, mixed with little silver tubes,
and finished with one of my Tucson clasps.
Hope everyone has a great weekend,
and maybe see a few of you at my show tomorrow.

Golden Pearls

Well, as usual working right up to the
deadline for my show tomorrow.
Although, I find that's when I get most
creative. Anyway, I bought some
big Swarovski pearls, and made them into a
couple of bracelets, which I was very happy
This one is mixed with copper findings.

Custom order

This bracelet was made for a customer who
picked out the lampwork beads, and
wanted gold/bronze metal beads instead
of silver. The beads are made with some
lustre glass, and have quite a bit of
iridescence. Hope she likes it!

New Bracelet

I have been playing with more of my Tucson
stash today. I dismantled a necklace I have
had for 3 years, and used my lampwork beads
from it. It looks much better this way, jazzed
up with lots of silver. Love the dragonfly
clasp. My problem is that I hate to part with any of this!

Art Exposed

Well, if you like some of the new things I have been making, you can see them in person at the Art Exposed show next Saturday, April 5. This time it is being held at the Brentwood Baptist Church, 3512 Charleswood Drive N.W. The show is on from 10:00 to 5:00. I have a link to a map on my website.

Copper Necklace

Posted by PicasaI bought quite a bit of copper in Tucson. Here's a multi-strand necklace using some of my treasures.

Lampwork Bracelet

Posted by PicasaI got some amazing clasps in Tucson. Here's one of them, combined with my lampwork beads in a bracelet.

More Kumihimo Cords

Posted by PicasaAs the caption says, more kumihimo cords, just waiting to have some pendants made for them. Love the colours!

Kumihimo cord with pendant

Fibre Necklace

This necklace uses some of the gorgeous fibres I got in Tucson and is combined with my lampwork beads.

Finally, a new posting!

It has been pointed out to me that I haven't updated my blog in a long time. I have to agree, I will try to do better. I seem to have lost the ability to upload pictures into my posts, so the pictures show up above this. I recently got a new computer, with Windows Vista, and I feel as if I am learning to use computers all over again.
Anyhow... I was lucky enough to travel to Tucson in February, for the Rock and Gem shows there. Wow!!! Talk about sensory overload. I went a little nuts buying many things, fibre among them. The pictures above show some of my recent projects.
