This is a 4" by 4" polymer clay tile that I created with the theme of Alberta wild rose.  I am one of over 300 artists donating pieces that will be combined into several assemblages.  These will be 10 tiles by 10 tiles, and will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the Red Cross, for Alberta flood relief.   I am excited to see what everyone else did, and how the pieces all will look together.  Here is a Swerve article about the project: Alberta Flood Wild Rose Project

I thought it would be an interesting challenge.  I never work this large (not too many people want a 4" pendant!) and I don't really "do" flower canes.  So I went to my usual mokume gane technique.  The roses ended up being pretty subtle, but there are three of them there if you look hard!  I imagine most of the submissions will be little paintings, but I always like to take an opportunity to show what can be done with polymer clay.  This was a win/win: poked at my creative muse, and will raise money for a good cause.
