My earrings all have jeweller's quality hooks. Most people who experience allergies to metal are reacting to nickel in the wires. The hooks I use are all nickle-free. They may be sterling silver, gold-filled, or niobium. Niobium is an inert precious metal, as "hypoallergenic" as 24k gold. In fact, it is also used in medical implants.
